This document is a product of our studies about what kind of resources and material is available on the Internet for teaching and learning Mathematics. There were not many sites done by Finnish schools or individuals. We found many interesting sites from Australia, UK and USA.
The main idea was to search material for Mathematics history, Geometry, Fractal Geometry and Math Art. This age of computer technology gives extending possibilities to visualize Mathematics in many ways. Actually the old traditional Mathematics seems to be very much different than expected. Chaos theory and Fractal Geometry lead us to new way of thinking Mathematics. - What seems to be very exact is not any more so exact, and what seems to straight is not any more straight. Mathematics can be very challenging!
Our hope is that the learning situation in classrooms will change. The role of a teacher should be more like tutor in classroom! But that means understanding the new situation and more work in beforehand to prepare a good learning environment for the student.
We are working with students aged 16+. Kauhajoki Senior High School and Kauhajoki Senior High School for Adults are "our own schools". We have had access to the Internet for years. The access is not satisfactory, we have to be able to use the Internet in most subjects! That is part of our educational technology studies.
